Carbon Fiber PLA

Brand: Yiqiu3D · Standard PLA flexes and sags on larger parts — carbon fiber reinforcement makes this filament noticeably stiffer, so frames, brackets and long-span parts hold their shape.

Quick Answer

What does carbon fiber do to PLA?

Short carbon fibers inside the PLA matrix increase stiffness and reduce creep, so parts deform less under load and hold dimensional accuracy better than plain PLA. It also reduces warping for large, flat parts.

Is it right for my project?

Best for: Suitable for a wide range of prototyping and light-duty end-use parts - available in 2 colours; lead colour PLA Carbon Fiber Black. Not ideal for: Not for heavy structural duty; a reinforced grade will perform better under load - available in 2 colours; lead colour PLA Carbon Fiber Black.

Product highlights

3 reasons

Carbon fiber filaments look rough and industrial

the matte lava-gray finish is smooth and premium, hiding layer lines while giving parts a modern, technical look.

Abrasive filaments can clog nozzles

our carbon fiber PLA is engineered with consistent fiber dispersion and tight diameter control, and we recommend a hardened steel nozzle for long life.

Carbon fiber filaments often need special profiles

this one prints at 200-220°C on Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa and Anycubic with standard PLA-style settings, just a touch slower.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does carbon fiber do to PLA?
Short carbon fibers inside the PLA matrix increase stiffness and reduce creep, so parts deform less under load and hold dimensional accuracy better than plain PLA. It also reduces warping for large, flat parts.
Do I need a special printer or nozzle?
Any standard FDM printer can run it, but because carbon fiber is abrasive we strongly recommend a hardened steel nozzle (0.4mm or larger) to avoid wear on brass nozzles. Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa and Anycubic machines work well.
What settings do you recommend?
Print at 200-220°C nozzle, 50-60°C bed, and 30-50 mm/s. Reduce cooling a little and use slightly higher retraction to avoid stringing on the matte surface.
How long does a spool last?
A 1kg spool of 1.75mm carbon fiber PLA is roughly 320-335 meters. Stiffened parts like frames or brackets weighing 30-80g yield about 12-30 prints per spool depending on infill.
Is the lava-gray color consistent?
Yes — the lava-gray tone is a signature of this carbon fiber blend, and each batch is matched to the master standard before packing. Vacuum sealing with desiccant keeps the matte finish consistent.
What speed range should I use?
For best stiffness and finish, print at 30-50 mm/s; infill can run at 50-70 mm/s. Carbon fiber PLA rewards moderate speeds with cleaner surfaces and stronger parts.
What can I use this for?
It suits functional and semi-functional parts where stiffness matters: drone frames, camera mounts, brackets, jigs and mechanical housings — anywhere plain PLA flexes too much.
How should I store this filament?
It ships vacuum-sealed with desiccant. Store opened spools in a dry box; keeping carbon fiber PLA dry prevents brittle strands and poor layer adhesion.
